Everybody’s still talking about the non-endorsement of Donald Trump. His name has come up in every talking head program, on every radio station and each TV channel from MSNBC to FOX since last Wednesday evening. Many are taken aback by the fact that he showed up and gave a speech at the convention without formally blessing the Republican nominee. There are few good words for Ted right now.

He held true to his convictions. What more can you ask from a conservative? His wife was maligned by the Trump campaign without cause. Would you endorse the head of such an organization if your spouse was likewise impugned?

Watch and listen, once again, to the speech as it was captured by CNN. http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2016/07/20/rnc-convention-ted-cruz-entire-speech-sot.cnn

It was impassioned. It related conservative values…states’ rights, human rights, citizen’s rights. It covered it all. He mentioned a wall to keep American’s safe. The speech identified the need for reasoned trade policies that put America’s interests first. He defined the differences between the major parties. He promoted our troops and law enforcement officers.

He incorporated many of the ideas Trump has touted. He said, “vote your conscience”. I.e. If you believe Trump is the man, by all means vote for him. He was principled. He held to his beliefs. He simply did not endorse Donald Trump. Don’t condemn the man for being true to himself, God and the American people.

Though he is not my first choice for president at this time, he expressed all the values in which I believe and that are needed to overcome the damage done to my country in the last 7+ years.  Hillary certainly won’t.  Perhaps Trump can.
