The anti-education teachers unions are at it again, shutting America’s schools down for little reason, this time because of overblown fears over the omicron variant. And at least one medical doctor is blasting the unions for shutting the schools down again.
By all accounts, the omicron variant of the coronavirus us not nearly as dangerous as the original strain. But even if it were, shutting schools down for kids who are at infinitesimal risk from COVID is the wrong decision.
Most scientists and medical professionals now feel that shutting schools down was never the right decision. Indeed, far from simply saving kids from contracting the virus, the shutdowns have hurt our children in far worse ways, not the least of which is destroying their education.
Well Doctor Lena Wen has had quest enough of it all. The doc took to Twitter to blast our miseduational system over the latest round of shutdowns.
“We in public health fought for teachers to be prioritized for vaccines,” she tweeted on Jan. 4. “Vaccines + boosters protect very well against severe illness to omicron. Wearing a high quality mask further protects you.”
“Teachers unions: Please stop the delays. We need all schools to be in-person, now,” Dr. Wen concluded.

Wen is exactly right. The science says teachers need to get back to work.
The fact is, NO public employee should be allowed to have a union.
