A man that claims to be a transgender woman has been accused of sexually abusing a baby at a daycare center in Paducah, Kentucky.

“Maria” Childers, 25, was an employee of the Explore Learning Academy in Paducah, Kentucky, when officials said that he abused a baby while changing the child’s diaper, WPSD Local 6 reported.

The Paducah police and the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) investigated the situation at Explore Learning Academy on February 8 and took the statement of a witness that saw Childers engage in the illegal activity.

Childers was arrested later that day, the report says. But he initially denied the claims. He later admitted to the inappropriate touching under further questioning.

The suspect was charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 12, and is being held at the McCracken County Jail with a bond set at $100,000. His sex was recorded as male at the jail and his next court appearance is set for March 23.

According to his social media, he studied child development at The University of Arizona Global Campus, an online school that has had accreditation troubles.
