The state of Texas is exploring legislation to classify sex change procedures for minors as child abuse and doctors who perform them could be open for charges.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent a letter to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to look into “so-called ‘sex change’ procedures” that can be said to “constitute child abuse under existing Texas law.”
“[I]t is already against the law to subject Texas children to a wide variety of elective procedures for gender transitioning, including reassignment surgeries that can cause sterilization, mastectomies, removals of otherwise healthy body parts, and administration of puberty-blocking drugs or supraphysiologic doses of testosterone or estrogen,” Abbott wrote in his letter.
“Texas law imposes reporting requirements upon all licensed professionals who have direct contact with children who may be subject to such abuse, including doctors, nurses, and teachers, and provides criminal penalties for failure to report such child abuse,” the letter continued. “There are similar reporting requirements and criminal penalties for members of the general public.”
“Texas law also imposes a duty on DFPS to investigate the parents of a child who is subjected to these abusive gender-transitioning procedures, and on other state agencies to investigate licensed facilities where such procedures may occur,” Abbott wrote.
Abbott is on the right track. It should be illegal everywhere to commit se reassignment procedures on anyone under 21 years of age.
Many of these procedures are extremely dangerous and are also often permanent.
These coddled kids are told their supposed need to change gender is a “normal” thing to think. But whether these deluded kids are serious or not, they are not old enough to make serious decisions like this.
If they change their minds later, there is no going back in many cases, and that will leave this child in for a life of mental distress and regrets.
People under 21 simply don’t have the mental status to make these sorts of decisions and it is criminal to forces these procedures on them until their mental capacity is prepared.
