Racism in the USA

In my opinion, any thriving Democracy will show discrimination. It’s the Human thing. We all have our prejudices.
Many of the racist factions in the U.S.A proudly claim their biased feelings. But not the Black community! They cry ‘oppression’, they cry ‘discrimination’, they cry ‘White supremacy’. They “cry” anything to get the attention, to get more than they deserve; and their leaders are the folks rallying the cries. They (the leaders) do it for their own personal gain. They use their own.
I believe any thriving Democracy will show discrimination. It’s the Human thing. We all have our prejudices.
But in the past, they didn’t dominate our hearts and minds. We didn’t act out feelings in a vicious and violent way. As a people, we worked together and cooperated for the good of the Country, and for the good of our Civilization.
Basically, we left each to his own. Many of us shared the World with others and grew friendships and loyalty. We even accepted and returned jokes and friendly barbs. We kept the negativity where it belonged, out of the public domain.
If only Society can learn once again, the ability to laugh at itself. World War II, with many men relying on each other for life and limb, learned a valuable lesson in non-discrimination.
And the non-cursing Comedians; those that did not have to depend on vulgar language to get a laugh, taught Society how to laugh at themselves.
Then along came Doctor Spock, who advocated to ” … spare the rod and spoil the child … ” !
A very disturbing opinion to force-feed to new parents. It was better to teach the age-old lessons of self-discipline, responsibility, and a good work ethic. “Tough Love” was hard, but the rewards were enumerable. Everyone wanted their children to have it better than they. And so many families became a two-income home; thereby putting a strain on time for parents to be at home supervising.
Of course, let’s not forget the onset of credit cards. They made it possible to live life above your “pay-grade”. And many have fallen into the trap.
Credit cards are good if used wisely. But alas, the temptation is strong, and many get far into debt.
Consequently, the end result was a spoiled generation. Many call them the “me-me” generations. And rightly so.
Can we turn back the clock? I doubt it. Can we start anew? Possibly.
In my opinion, the first, and most important would be to cancel out completely ” …. Political Correctness …. “. I find this to be a rather phony, two-faced approach to communication. It is a much maligned way of expressing tact, and we should abandon the practice.
We have much to do, and many habits and traditions to re-assess.
So let us begin.

President Trump has been criticized for his approach to this new beginning. Perhaps we should consider that going softly and slowly would take a Century to accomplish. Criticism and correction are not easy to absorb. But knowing the necessity should be a softening of the effect. Conciliation is not the answer.
I pray the Democrats, now having a larger say in Government, learn to put aside their violent responses, and practice more cooperation and compromise.
