Former President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against left-wing cable news network CNN for defamation for calling him an agent of Russia and a white supremacist.

Trump filed his lawsuit on Monday in a federal court in Florida. He is is seeking $475 million in punitive damages, according to The Hill.

Trump had hinted back in July that he was set to sue CNN and others for their lies about him during and prior to the 2020 election cycle.

Per The Hill:

The former president’s attorneys allege in the filing that CNN “has undertaken a smear campaign to malign the Plaintiff with a barrage of negative associations and innuendos, broadcasting commentary that he is like a cult leader, a Russian lackey, a dog whistler to white supremacists, and a racist.”

It also cited anchors, personalities and pundits on CNN using the term “Big Lie” to refer to Trump’s repeated false statements about the 2020 election and voter fraud as evidence of the outlet attempting to associate him with Adolf Hitler.

Defamation cases against the media are hard to prove because litigants must prove that the media acted with actual malice or reckless disregard for the truth in their stories.

However, recently several cases were strong enough that media groups settled out of court to make the cases go away.

But one thing is true. The “news” media is packed with liars who work solely in favor of Democrats and the hardcore, anti-American, left-wing agenda.
