A Southwest Airlines flight attendant won a $5.3 million judgment after she sued when she was fired for daring to openly support conservative candidates and causes.
Charlene Carter was fired after arguing with her union president over abortion and other conservative issues on social media. When she lost her job because of it, she filed a lawsuit alleging that being violated her right to advocate against her union.
Despite firing Carter for daring to speak her mind on politics, Southwest Airlines made the odd statement that it has a history of supporting employee’s and their political ideals, the Daily Mail reported.
The Airline contended that Carter’s messages taking her union president to task over pro-abortion views, coupled with Carter’s pro-life Facebook posts were “harassment” and “offensive.”
The company claimed that her use of social media violated the company’s rules.
A jury in a Dallas federal court ruled that Carter had a right to her personal political ideas.
