A Canadian man who beheaded and ate a fellow Greyhound bus passenger was found not criminally responsible because he was insane when committing the crime! This is logic only lawyers could dare. The man was then granted freedom by the Manitoba Criminal Code Review Board! At least this bunch didn’t make it all the way to California, but I wonder how many are Jerry Brown’s cousins.
Cannibalism is either thriving in Canada or there is a severe meat shortage, or Canadians have a very unique sense of humor or what? The Code Review Board then announced that Will Baker, formerly known as Vince Li, was granted an “Absolute Discharge,” meaning he is no longer subject to monitoring. It is not known whether or not they took away his fork.
Baker, a diagnosed schizophrenic, killed Tim McLean, a young carnival worker who was a complete stranger to Baker, in 2008 and he ate him! And, without Ketchup! Shocking! Now he is walking free and probably not looking for a Big Mac and a side of fries.
You may think our colleges and courts are crazy, but it appears the Canadians have taken the prize, if there is one, for utter insanity in matters of public safety, crime and punishment.
McLean’s own mother, Carol de Delley, whose name is different from any the cannibal has used, has been outspoken against granting Baker freedom, saying there would be no way to ensure he continued to take his medication. It is common for schizophrenics to stop taking their medicine when they feel better as a result of having taken said medication! This man is a time bomb with a fuse on it that may not be all that long. The literature is very clear on this matter.
How many more Canadians are doing menu planning of this kind? Is this so common north of the border they let these people out to solve an overcrowding problem in their “houses of correction?” Where the Hell is Sargent Preston and his lead dog King? This does not sound like something the great Mounty would permit to happen in the great north! Sounds like we need a wall on our northern border more than we do on our southern border. At least the Mexicans pretty much stick to tortillas and beans.
