An Israeli blogger and founder of online magazine IsraLove.org Pavel Zamir put an item on his blog remembering the legendary Rafael Eitan.
“Our country is constantly fighting against terror. In 2015-2016, Israel was swept by a new wave of terrorist attacks. Teenagers attack civilians with knives. The Israeli police, guards and soldiers were allowed to shoot using the “deadly force” and without warning, if there is even the slightest threat to civilians.
There are always ongoing disputes about the humanity of acts towards terrorists. Some are in favor of repealing the order of “deadly force,” arguing that a terrorist is also a person. Really?! Is he a person?
It would be a very funny story if it was not so sad. About 30 years ago, the Chief of the General Staff of Israel was Rafael Eitan, the legendary Raful. He got a report that a group of terrorists broke through on the Golan Heights. Israelis threw a company of special forces, and all the terrorists were destroyed. Raful arrived, and one of the commanders indignantly told the general that two terrorists had been killed after they had raised their hands.
Raful was furious.
Summoning the company commander, he yelled at him:
