House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) sat down with CBS’ Norah O’Donnell Thursday evening to talk about a wide-range of currently ongoing issues. When the discussion turned to House Intelligence Committee chair Devin Nunes’ revelation that the Trump transition team had been spied on, Ryan made some interesting comments and called Nunes’ sources “whistleblowers.”

“[Nunes] had told me that like a whistleblower type person had given him some information that was new, that spoke to the last administration and part of this investigation. He briefed me about it. Didn’t know the content of it, only knew the content of it and that he was going to brief others…”

Ryan later mentioned that he hadn’t seen the documents because they could not leave the safety of the White House.

“He didn’t have the documents, so I didn’t. He was going to brief everybody.”
