Twitter owner Elon Musk, who re-branded the social media site as X, is threatening to pull the social media site out of Europe after regulators began attacking him for refusing to abide by their demands that he abide by their censorship rules to supposedly counter “disinformation.”

The EU Digital Services Act (DSA) requires Internet platforms to remove what officials claim is “illegal” content that put the public at “risk,” according to Newsmax.

EU industry chief Thierry Breton opened an investigation into X and on Oct. 10, wrote Musk a letter, saying, “Given the urgency, I also expect you to be in contact with the relevant law enforcement authorities and Europol, and ensure that you respond promptly to their requests.”

Breton added, “We have sent @X a formal request for information, a first step in our investigation to determine compliance with the DSA.”

But X CEO Linda Yaccarino said Thursday said that X had already removed hundreds of Hamas and its supporters and also removed thousands of posts.

But Musk has proven in the past that he won’t brook with much government interference with his social media company.

As well he shouldn’t.

Indeed, as Insider reported, Musk has already purged most of the “trust and safety” team that old, left-wing Twitter had put in place to seek and destroy conservatives online.

And insiders say he has said that he might simply shut the social media site down from the anti-free speech Europeans.
