The Democrats are losing the battle for legitimacy over their indictment of Donald Trump as most Americans think it is all about politics, not the law.

A recent poll found that 55 percent of respondents feel that the Democrat assault on Donald Trump is all about politics. And only 45 percent said that the indictment is legitimate.

Per Just the NewsL

More than a quarter of Democrats, 28%, said the indictment was politically motivated, as did 83% of Republicans.

Most voters, 56%, also said they consider Trump’s “federal indictment to be an interference by the Department of Justice in the 2024 elections” while 44% said it was “the fair application of the law,” the survey also showed.

Nearly one-third of Democrats, 32%, said the indictment was election interference, along with 84% of Republicans.

However, voters are split 50-50 on whether the indictment will help or hurt Trump politically.

Even as he faces a state and a federal indictment, a hypothetical 2024 matchup between Trump and President Joe Biden showed that Trump is ahead by 6%.

It is beginning to look like these indictments are not making the difference that Democrats imagined they would.
