To my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who may be torn on this election as to what to do. There is the Trumpbot camp that follows blindly behind the Donald regardless of what he says or does. There are those pretend conservatives who are saying they are going to vote for Hillary, now excuse me but that only tells me you folks are either stupid or a liberal hiding behind a conservative Republican label; I vote for the latter.

Of course, there is the Trump Super PAC previously known as the Fox News Network who were all Trump all the time during the primaries. There are those in the Cruz camp who are disappointed that America fell for the negative press on Ted but in spite of all that he was still running a solid second place, and I might add the only real Constitutional Conservative who was still in the hunt.

Then there are the feckless GOP operatives who are ineffective at best and incompetent at their worst, who are not sure what they stand for therefore will fall for anything. Some evangelicals are proclaiming that the Trumpster is hand-picked by God to be our next President. And then there are the rest of us who desire an ethical, principled, constitutional conservative candidate who will acknowledge the limitations placed upon the three branches of government and work tirelessly to get the FEDERAL HOUSE in order (Constitutional order) and leave the rest of us to self-determine our destiny. The power not specifically enumerated in the Constitution remain in the hands of the states or the people of those states.

So what should we do as biblical Christians? Is Trump the hand-picked anointed by God candidate this election? There are those who say that Trump will be like a Cyrus able to be used of God to restore Christian values and principles to America, I do not hold to this belief.

How best should we assess this year’s election cycle? What criteria should we use? Are we electing a national religious leader? No! Should we want a solid Christian in office? That depends on where the candidate stands on Constitutional issues.

Personally, I’d prefer a solid Christian Constitutionalist, but that is not on the menu this round, in fact, has not been on the plate for several election cycles. Is Trump the hand-picked anointed of God? I do not believe so since he has never professed faith in Christ. Can God use Trump? Yeah, in fact, God used Obama to give America what America seems to be wanting, a nation devoid of God.

The problem the way I see it; America has desired to be free of biblical restraint, and biblical morality for quite some time. The American citizenry has been hankering for a leader that will give them what they want not necessarily what is right or just or good. America has decided that her hope rests in a secular leader and not the divine providential care of God. Listen to what the population wants their President to do. Look at the issues America finds necessary, and then ask how much of that has eternal value? How much of what America is asking for fits into a biblical form of government or for that matter a Constitutional Republic?

God allows us to make our choices and this time around if we want a biblical parallel let me put forth this one.

1 Samuel 8:4-9 (NIV)

4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah.

5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.

7 And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.”

America had gotten herself into a real mess when she as a nation decided that secular rule was a better option then self-rule under Godly guidance. As a nation, we have looked to the government as our helper and guide rather than depending on God to be our Supreme leader. America has tossed God out and as been trying to replace him with lesser leaders, in fact, even the church has not required ethics or morality from her leaders. Therefore if we made a biblical reference this year, I would put forth Trump represents a SAUL and definitely not a David. Trump is likely to get elected because he represents what America deems vital, status, prestige, larger than life presence, but lacks any biblical grounding or moorings. He is more likely to build monuments to himself (Trump Tower, Trump Enterprises) than heed the prophetic voice of God.

So what should we do? Vote down ballot because local races are crucial. Make sure you are picking the best possible candidate locally to maintain the conservative momentum that has been mounting since 2010. Understand that no one man can fix what is wrong with America and we should not expect them to. It is up to “we the people” to fix what “we the people” have permitted to happen in this country.

In addition to down ballot, votes make sure you do all you can to defeat the other guy whoever that other guy or gal may be. In my case it is anyone but Hillary, this is not an endorsement for Trump but rather a rejection of Hillary and her party.

Elections are only the beginning of what needs to be done to fix America. I am an active supporter of the Article V Convention of States to amend our Constitution to address the tyranny that is currently running rampant throughout the federal government.

The bottom line, however, is America has to decide as a nation to repent and return to God, or all is lost. And please my Christian friends be careful about whom you place your trust.

Proverbs 25:19 (HCSB)

19 Trusting an unreliable person in a difficult time is like a rotten tooth or a faltering foot.

Jeremiah 17:5 (GW)

5 “This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

Our problem America, we have turned from God and have put our trust in mere humans who are unable to fix what is wrong with the nation. Only God can save us; that is if we let Him.

That is the way I see it what say you?
