By Julio Rivera,

President Joe Biden is just over a year and a half into his term and one thing is for certain – America has never faced a greater number of security issues. After stumbling out of the gates in regard to the US-Mexico border early last year as a result of Biden’s short-sighted executive order that terminated the national emergency declared by the Trump administration and established by Proclamation 9844, border wall construction was halted and the subsequent weeks saw the development of a border crisis that has seen over a million illegal border crossings since early 2021.

As a result of this unmitigated disaster, that in addition to contributing to the resurgence in COVID-19 cases in border states at various points during the last 10 months, has financially supported human trafficking operations in the Northern Triangle countries and Mexico, the Biden administration has quietly attempted to reverse course on bad policy by finally authorizing the completion of the Trump-funded border wall in a particularly high traffic area of southern Arizona near Yuma.

In addition to the border-related failings of the past year and a half, the Biden administration has also had to deal with some of the more high-profile cyber-attacks against the United States in history, particularly in 2021. Last year, some of the more sobering cyber-attacks in American history occurred, specifically, the supply chain halting attacks that targeted Colonial Pipeline and JBS Foods.

These kinds of attacks displayed the potential for disaster that lurks in the theater of cyber warfare. With most countries at a serious disadvantage against the US militaristically, the only Hail Mary shot most of our enemies have at causing damage against the US remotely lies in the cybersphere.

To address these issues, the Biden administration has just rolled out a multi-agency initiative that is intended to create hundreds of new registered apprenticeship programs with private businesses that it hopes will address the serious lack of staffing in both the public and private sectors. The new program will draw its funding from the $500 million Commerce Department program known as the Good Jobs Challenge.

But like seemingly every left-led initiative in our current era of phony wokeness, instead of centering their concentration on identifying the best possible candidates and creating a meritorious system, the liberals running this show will focus on recruiting young people, women, and minorities to become the leaders of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Not that there is anything wrong with giving opportunities to young people, women, and minorities, but it can already be said that the anti-white rhetoric that is already flowing from the administration officials tasked with initiating the program contains racist overtones.

For one, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo at a White House event on Tuesday was quoted as saying, “We’re not going to find 700,000 people if we’re only looking for white men. It’s not going to happen,”

Another new cyber-related initiative that was recently launched by the Biden administration is centered around tightening up security for the upcoming midterm election, as the State Department announced in June that a new program will grant a reward of up to $10 million for information regarding foreign interference in elections.

The initiative’s international elections analyst, Marie Harf, told a workshop hosted by the University of Southern California Election Cybersecurity Initiative that there are worries of potential attacks that are likely to continue into November’s midterm elections.

“Much of that concern, again, centers on Russia, and how it could exploit American divisions and seed false conspiracy theories about the integrity of our elections,” Harf said.

Presenters during the workshop also attempted to educate attendees on spotting fake news stories, how to better secure their passwords, and what they can do to stay safe from “phishing” scams, that involve hackers sending phony emails in an effort to draw private information like passwords and social security numbers from potential victims.

The Biden administration has exposed America to an unprecedented number of dangers in a period of just a year and a half. The border, the dangers presented to American servicemen and women during the botched Afghanistan pullout, and the ongoing attacks against police officers in many major American cities, the majority of which are run by Democrats.

If America is to be kept safe against threats like ransomware and the state-sponsored Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) Groups that exist in the cybersphere the next two and half years, the reactive and inept Biden administration must perform at a higher level than it has so far, as the security of not only the US, but of the entire free world, hinges on America’s ability to fend of the threats posed by countries like China and Russia.
