Illinois is a perfect case for why one-party rule is un-American as state supreme court justices who ran for office as Democrats refuse to quit a case they are hearing aimed at eliminating citizens’ Second Amendment rights.

The state’s top court is hearing a case wherein the state legislature and the left-wing gov. are attempting to legitimize their newly enacted anti-gun laws that take away a number of rights from the state’s citizens. The state and gov JB Proitzker want ti top court to rule their gun grabbing restrictions as constitutional so that the bans can be implemented.

But two of the court’s justices have refused to recuse themselves from the case, despite taking millions from Pritzker for their election campaigns. Again, Pritzker is one of the defendants in the case.

Per Just the News:

Before Elizabeth Rochford and Mary O’Brien were elected to the Illinois Supreme Court in November 2022, Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave each of their campaign funds half a million dollars from both his campaign account and a revocable trust, totaling $1 million to each. The two justices also received six-figure donations out of a campaign fund controlled by Illinois House Speaker Emanual “Chris” Welch,” D-Hillside.

Both Pritzker and Welch are top defendants in a Macon County challenge of Illinois’ gun and magazine ban brought by state Rep. Dan Caulkins, R-Decatur. The county judge there issued a final judgment that the law is unconstitutional. The state appealed the case directly to the Illinois Supreme Court after a separate case was found by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to have a likelihood of success on the basis the law violates equal protections.

Late last month, Caulkins’ attorney filed a motion for the two justices to recuse themselves, or for the Illinois Supreme Court to disqualify them from hearing the challenge. Attorney Jerry Stocks argued “unreasonably large campaign contributions” from Pritzker and Welch “undermine public confidence” in the judiciary.

How can anyone expect that these two judges are going to rule against the deep-pocketed politicos who gave them millions?

Of course, the whole state is run exclusively by Democrats. There are no real Republican legislators, and the GOP has not held a top office for over a decade.

Further, even when there was a state COP, it was just an adjunct to the Illinois Democrat Party.

So, clearly the fix is in. Illinois citizens should prepare to have their Second Amendment rights further trampled by the anti-American state of Illinois.
