In last week’s article I wrote about how the media, with their biased reporting and virulent dislike of the president, embarrasses us all as Americans. And now these paragons of journalistic integrity, and the anti-Trump crowd of liberals, progressives, democrats, entertainment elites and some Rino’s, revealed a strain of hypocrisy within their ranks that reaches new heights.

Most of the inhabitants of this planet were recently witness to the depraved antics of the so called comedienne Kathy Griffin. Ms. Griffin, in terrorist fashion, held up what appeared to be the gory severed and bloody head of the president. There is little doubt for the reasons behind this offensive act; Griffin was of course seeking publicity to help boost her faltering career, secure her position as a tried and true liberal, and simply pure hatred of Mr. Trump and his family.

Griffin is noted for her on stage vulgar and insulting persona, but unlike her predecessors whose comedy was acceptable by most standards of decency, but still funny; Griffin is typical of many of the comedians today, whose acts are laced with raw, sexual innuendo, hostile and in many cases bigoted script. And lest we forget, there’s that same liberal strain that permeates most of the entertainment industry.

The outrage was quick and across the ideological spectrum. Of course there were some exceptions, those devoid of any sense of propriety and decency, but the majority of conservatives, liberals, democrats, and republicans, and the media, were disgusted with this display of despicable behavior. The internet was abuzz with criticism, much of it highly inflammatory and in some cases threatening. President Trump on Twitter commented “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick.” The First Lady also issued a statement referring to the picture as “disturbing”, and adding “It makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it”. The president’s older children also issued statements.

Ms. Griffin issued an apology, which although appropriate; she failed to direct any of her sentiments toward the president and his family. And then the following day she held a press conference, with her lawyer Lisa Bloom. With tears flowing, she accused the president of having “broke me”, and was trying to “ruin her life”. Wait a minute, perhaps I was dreaming, did she a day earlier hold up a severed head of someone? How did we get to a place when she has become the victim? This latest action should reinforce what I had concluded when she first held up the fake severed head, and I don’t say this in jest, Ms. Griffin shows signs of being unstable.

The outcry in the aftermath of Griffin’s deplorable behavior was a given, and to be expected. But when you consider where much of it originated, you have to question the motives and what I believe is the questionable outrage. The main stream media, especially the NY Times, Washington Post, New York Daily News, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, the celebrity culture, and cadres of others, are all part of a daily effort to undermine and delegitimize the President of the United States, and are all equally to blame for what occurred. Since the presidential election, they all have helped create the toxic, hate-filled climate in this country that manifested itself with this kind of offensive, repulsive and deranged act.

The acronym MSM for main stream media appears on occasion in print and on the internet. I’d like to expand the meaning to include some other explanations I think are appropriate. Main stream- madness, meanness, misinformation, misery, myopia, mistakes, made-up, misdirection, mediocrity, malfeasance, misconduct, manure megalomania, mendacity, melancholy, masturbation, muck, migraine. Can you think of any others?

In the “Iliad”, Alexander Pope wrote, “Who dares think one thing, and another tell, my heart detests him as the gates of hell”. Yes Ms. Griffin committed the deplorable deed, but all these other entities, especially the media, were her enablers and should not escape criticism and should be branded for what they are, HYPOCRITES.
