God wants everyone to go to Heaven

John 3:16-18

[16] For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
[18] He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the Cross for the sins of everyone. The gates of Heaven are open to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. Heaven’s doors are not just open to me or a select few. Everyone can go to Heaven.

But people reject Jesus Christ and they end up in hell. They reject Jesus as the Son of God and as Savior and they find themselves in hell. They think that somehow they can get to Heaven based on their own good works.

God says NO! Please look at Ephesians 2:8-9.

They end up in hell.

Ok, what is hell like?

Hell is eternal separation from God.

Imagine, when a person goes to hell, they are in hell eternally. They can’t get out! They can’t pray to God because they are separated from God. God will not answer their prayers. Hell is eternal, extreme heat; hell is eternal darkness; hell is eternal loneliness; hell is eternal torture. There is no water in hell (remember the story about the rich and Lazarus in Luke 16).

But the second Person of the trinity, Jesus Christ – the Son of God, left His home in glory 2000 years ago to come to earth. Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem Judea.  He was born into a Jewish family. His earthly mother Mary and His adopted father Joseph were directly related to the throne of David. Mary was through Nathan and Joseph was through Solomon. Jesus was the King of Israel. But Israel crucified Him. Israel rejected and crucified their King. But the Bible says that the sins of the entire world (Jews and Gentiles) put Jesus on the Cross. My sins and your sins put Jesus on the Cross. Therefore, Israel did not crucify their King; I crucified Jesus; you crucified Jesus; the entire world crucified Jesus! Jesus was crucified, but on the third day, He rose from the dead. He rose victorious over sin, death, and hell. Death and hell could not hold Him. Jesus is the sinless and eternal Son of God. Jesus has power and authority over sin, death, and hell. Through the death and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ God reconciled all mankind back to Himself. Christ’s death completely satisfies all of God’s just demands on everybody (Jews and Gentiles).

So how do you get to Heaven?

Christ did all the work for you.

There is nothing left for you to do.

Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.” John 6:47

Christ died………………………………That’s History

Christ died for me……………………..That’s Salvation!
