“I am the Alpha and Omega”

Cutting-edge Modern Technology is connecting us with the Ancient. Not just with billion-dollar Hadron colliders, but with $200 Sony cameras. Here we see the Omega symbol on the moon. The ancient Jewish prophets Joel and the apostle John on Patmos reveal insight!

In these last days before His coming, are the observable symbols on the moon a reminder of who Jesus is? Is it the Moon which is “the bright, the morning star” in Revelation 22? On an ancient and clear Middle Eastern night, could the Apostle John view the Omega symbol on the bright and morning star?

In the most recent modern definition of a star: “Stars are luminous spheroids made up of hydrogen, helium, and trace amounts of other elements that glow due to nuclear fusion within their cores. The closest star is, of course, the sun, with the next closest being a red dwarf called Proxima Centauri at 4.24 light-years. So, no, the Moon is not a star,” according to this recent 21st century definition.

But this definition did not exist 2,000 years ago, when John wrote the Apocalypse on Patmos. Even today, debates continue, whether the moon is a planet or star. Modern definitions of astronomy did not exist 2,000 years ago. Nature is much less concerned about “definition boundaries” than humans. In many modern circles, the definition of “Christian” is simply “a good person,” while others define it as “a bad person.” Definitions change.

While John on Patmos did not define the moon as “a luminous spheroid made up of hydrogen, helium, and trace amounts of other elements that glow due to nuclear fusion,” the Apostle Petere did reveal, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…” (2 Peter 3:10) But in their day, could John and Peter have used “star” to mean “heavenly body,” as did the wise men, following the “star” to Bethlehem?

Regarding the latter, discussion over this “star” include whether it was a comet, super nova, dancing planet, Jupiter and Saturn, or Jupiter and Moon. Here again we see the Moon considered as a star. In Roman astrology (which the Magi would have also known) Aries is the symbol of Israel. Dr Molnar has found a new ‘star’ made of Jupiter and the moon in Aries. Jupiter was the Ruler planet in Roman astrology (as in Persian astrology) and the moon meant births (especially of new kings).

Mmm. The moon meant births, especially of new kings. In Revelation 19:16 Jesus is given the full title “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (following Revelation 17:14: “Lord of lords and King of kings”). The title indicates someone who has the power to exercise absolute dominion over all His realm. In the case of the Lord Jesus, the realm is all of creation. Most assuredly, Jesus Christ is coming as the new visible King, indeed, the King of kings!

Christ is unequivocally called “the bright, the morning star” in Revelation 22:16. Bible symbols are frequently used in a variety of ways, sometimes quite diversely. Let’s assume John on Patmos really did intend the moon he saw, on Patmos, to be a visible symbol of Jesus as the bright morning star:

The adjective “of the morning” suggests unfading, glorious brilliance both for Jesus in Rev. 22:16, and here [Rev. 2:28] for us. The Victorious King Jesus is the brilliant Morning Star in royal splendor! And he gives to every faithful believer the gift to be like him in royal splendor!

The idea would be that the Lord’s people will partake of his victory “glow” in the heavenly realm.

Another scholar, Professor Robert Wall, says “it would seem likely that ‘the morning star’” is a symbol of the situation of those Christians who “overcome,” by pointing to their “future participation in the triumph of God’s rule over all those secular and materialistic pretenders to the Lord’s throne” (79).

Similarly, Frank Pack suggested: “The victorious Christian shares in Christ’s glorious triumph and authority, and possesses Christ as an everlasting treasure.” No matter what happens on earth during the Great Tribulation, we see the Divine promises in Revelation 22:

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Jesus spoke of this event in Matthew 24:29–30: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

Here, Jesus indicates that these phenomena will take place at the end of the tribulation period shortly before He returns to Earth. It is possible that the judgments and devastation that take place during the tribulation will be responsible for creating conditions that make the sun appear dark and the moon appear red? Is this the symbolic mirror of the world-govt. Red communism sweeping the earth, advanced by that 19th-century satanic prophet, Karl Marx, and his contemporary enforcers?

Regardless of how it happens, the appearance of sun and moon will change. Joel’s prophecy is clear: a darkened sun and reddish moon are associated with God’s judgment, shortly before the return of Christ.

Until then, throughout the Great Tribulation, the Moon with the Omega symbol will be a constant and effective reminder, to persevering saints, that they are victorious, as they possess Christ as an everlasting treasure, to soon embrace Him at the prophesied and sure Second Coming!
