Officials in Chicago are trying to dirty up Atlanta in the contest for winning the choice for the site of the 2024 Democrat National Convention by claiming that Georgia’s pro-gun laws will put Democrats at risk during the convention. Bit, how is Chicago “safer” as it continues to reign as one of the nation’s worst “murder capitals”?

Insiders are signaling that Chicago and Atlanta are now ahead of New York City as the leading candidates for the event. As the rhetoric heats up, those in charge of the Windy City’s bid for the convention are trying to scotch Atlanta’s standing with a whisper campaign.

According to the New York Times:

But recent events have brought a new argument: Georgia’s lenient gun laws could make it extremely difficult to keep firearms away from the delegates. The Secret Service is likely to declare the convention a “national security special event” and supersede state ordinances with its own rules inside a fortified perimeter.

But in hotels, along bus routes and at meetings and parties far from the core convention sites, guns could find their way in, security consultants are warning, especially if Georgia’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp, holds to his pro-gun views and refuses to intervene.

“It just creates a tense environment,” said Charles H. Ramsey, who once led police forces in Washington and Philadelphia and now does security consulting. “To me it’s an issue.”

Naturally, officials in Georgia claim that the attack is absurd because the convention will be under federal protection despite any state laws governing guns.

But at the same time that Chicago is touting its strict gun laws and dissing Atlanta for its Second Amendment friendly rules, the Windy City is still reigning as one of the most dangerous cities in America… strict gun laws completely aside.

According to the nonprofit Wirepoints, Chicago has suffered the highest level of crime (total, not per capita) of any city for the last eleven years. And shootings are the worst part of those stats.

Chicago’s 697 criminal homicides in 2022 were the most in the nation for the 11th-straight year. Philadelphia suffered the 2nd-most with 516. New York City (438), Houston (435) and Los Angeles (382) rounded out the top 5. By contrast, cities with the fewest homicides out of the 75 surveyed were Plano, TX and Gilbert, AZ. They suffered 1 and 3 murders, respectively.

The next closest is Philadelphia with 516. And of the rest of the top five, the numbers fall by the hundreds compared to Chicago (NY City, 438; Houston, TX, 435; L.A., CA, 382).

So, this argument against Atlanta (with only 170 homicides in 2022) by the Democrat infested city of Chicago could not be more fraudulent and hypocritical.

But since Democrats do not care much about truth and facts, it could just work.
