Bill Maher blasted leftists who attack people for “fat shaming” and told them they aren’t “freedom fighters” but instead are flying in the face of science.

For years, liberals have been pushing this dangerous concept of “body positivity.” Maher noted that the only thing that making obesity seem normal is doing is hurting the American people by allowing them to wallow in their fat instead of working to get healthy.

Maher made his comments on a recent episode of his HBO series, Real Time with Bill Maher.

“There’s a disturbing trend going on in America these days: rewriting science to fit ideology or just to fit what you want reality to be,” Maher said.

“We’ve gone from ‘fat acceptance’ to ‘fat celebration.’ That’s new,” he continued.

“To view letting yourself go as a point of pride? We used to at least try and be fit and healthy, and society praised those who succeeded,” Maher exclaimed.

“Now the term body positivity is used to mean ‘I’m perfect the way I am because I’m me,'” he said. “It’s Orwellian how often positivity is used to describe what’s not healthy.”

Maher then asked, “Let me ask you this: Have you ever seen a fat 90-year-old?”

Maher said that being fat is just plain unhealthy and science has proven it. And, no, “some” people aren’t perfectly healthy being obese.

Maher went on to make a long list of other points including talking about how expensive obesity is for the healthcare system.

He is right. Leftists attacking people for “fat shaming” are NOT helping fat people. They are causing them to make excuses for their obesity and putting their health and lives at risk.
