“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

– U.S.Constitution, Bill of Rights, enacted 1791

Why are Hillary, liberals and Democrats so afraid of the 2nd Amendment that they would want to shred it?  Is it because there might be a more subtle meaning of the 2nd Amendment that makes these groups nervous?  I believe there is.

I am not a Constitutional scholar or some Yale or Harvard law professor.  I’m just a simple guy living in a simple place who can read and (gasp of horror) think. My reading and thinking have lead me to the following:

It was just after winning freedom in the Revolutionary War that the U.S. Constitution and the included Bill of Rights were finally approved.  To see the point, we need to go back and remember why the Revolutionary War was fought.  The thirteen colonies were fighting to be allowed to govern themselves without the heavy hand of interference from the British King.  The grievances of the colonies were eloquently spelled out in the Declaration of Independence.  This document talked about how the King had dissolved state legislatures, refused to allow any laws enacted by the colonies unless they met his approval, forced the quartering of soldiers in colonists’ homes and the list goes on and on.  There is one stark sentence in the Declaration that many people do not know exist that sums up all the reasons for separating from the Crown: “A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”  In this sentence our Founding Fathers correctly labeled the King as a tyrant and defined all their actions as a people fighting against tyranny.

Our Founding Fathers were not gods or demi-gods, they were just men, no more and no less. They did realize that, having survived one tyrant, there could be others, both inside and outside the country, that would move to take over the people and eliminate their freedoms.  This is what “being necessary to the security of a free State” means.

Think about it: Right now there are about two million men and women in uniform.  At last check, there were approximately 270 million guns in the hands of US civilians (American Gun Facts, 2016).  Now if you were a tyrant seeking to subjugate a people, or an ideological group seeking to shred the Constitution, seeing those numbers, the first thing you would want to do is disarm the populace.  Read the history of every tyrant, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the imams in the Middle East, and you find the first thing they did was take away guns from the people! Now the liberal left, A.K.A libtards, are not going to try to completely remove the 2nd Amendment.  They are crazy, but not dumb.  What they will try to do is, by executive orders, legislation or by the Supreme Court, try to slowly strip us of 2nd Amendment rights, justifying this as “for the good of the people”.

Many uniformed people, especially those in the media, believe that the whole purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to allow citizens to have guns for hunting and sport and, yes, on that point they are, like a broken clock, correct for a change. In addition, however, we have the 2nd Amendment in our Bill of Rights to allow us, the citizens, to defend ourselves against tyrants who would take over our country, and yes, this also means those tyrants who are American.

God help this country if we ever lose the 2nd Amendment!
