This morning on MSNBC, Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told Morning Joe that the President-elect doesn’t plan on pursuing investigations into Hillary Clinton once he assumes office in January. As you can imagine, the faux-media have been celebrating the news since with the Washington Post calling Trump’s campaign promises “hollow” while Politico (one of the worst liberal mouthpieces for the Democratic Party) celebrated Hillary’s pending “liberty”. I would hold on before ordering the ticker-tape parade for the would-be Criminal-in-Chief – Donald Trump is playing poker with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the press and frankly, is beating them senseless.

By making a public statement stating his lack of interest in Hillary’s many crimes, President Trump demonstrates, as he has time and time again throughout the campaign, the ability to play chess while his opponents are playing checkers. Let’s walk through the opening “moves” from the Trump playbook.

First and foremost, Trump’s declaration that “I have no interest in pursuing an investigation into Hillary’s crimes” establishes a clear and distinct change from the 8 years of Obama’s politicizing the Department of Justice.

Second, when the FBI and Trump-appointed Attorney General pursue an investigation into Hillary Clinton, it will be an entirely independent, just investigation – not a political hit as it would be perceived by our leftist media. As the President says “we won’t pursue Hillary”, the now independent FBI and DOJ (freed from the shackles of a corrupt James Comey and Barack Obama) will recommend an independent Grand Jury and President Trump will have no choice but to say “we must follow the FBI/DOJ’s recommendations”. Pure, strategic, genius.

It’s almost like, only weeks away from outsmarting Washington D.C. in one of the most shocking political victories of all-time, people forget that Donald Trump is a brilliant tactician. That is not a statement of blustering pro-Trump cheerleading – it is simply a statement of fact.

Third, and this may be the most brilliant angle, Trump has tied Obama’s hands. By announcing no plans to prosecute Hillary Clinton, Trump does an end-run around the predictable Obama pardon before leaving office. Trump has out maneuvered the “brilliant” President Obama by removing all semblances of a “political witch hunt” leaving Obama with two unattractive choices: don’t pardon Hillary, and leave her at risk of the long arm of the law, or pardon Hillary and admit her guilt and culpability. Trump has painted both Obama and Hillary into a corner and left them without an option.

This maneuver is another example of Trump using “the Art of the Deal” – he understands and is using leverage to give himself options while taking away Obama and Hillary’s options. To say it another way: by saying he won’t seek a prosecution, Trump is leaving open the only chance for Hillary to be prosecuted.

It’s not too difficult to imagine, three months from now, President Trump announcing, probably directly to the American people without the media’s input, “We didn’t intend to prosecute Hillary but we can’t and won’t ignore the request of the Department of Justice for a full and complete investigation.” We see you President Trump, we the American people see your chess moves and salute and applaud your ability to out-maneuver the corrupt Obama/Hillary alliance.
