A psychotherapist Dr. Karen Ruskin with radio host Kevin Scholla appeared on The Palin Update radio program at Mama Grizzly Radio show to discuss mental health issues when dealing with our latest natural disasters.
Dr. Ruskin made it clear that the way our leaders conduct themselves during such times goes a long way in shaping our well being. It seems that Donald Trump is actually good not only for US business but for our mental health also, in particular referring to the hurricane season.
Here are few fragments of the interview:
“Not only is it important for leaders to step up during a time like this, it’s imperative … I’m so thankful to see that is what’s going on. Our leaders by that very title, they are role models for us, and to see involvement reminds us of the importance of us getting involved too … It allows a sense of feeling stable and safe … Our leader and our leaders are here for us. Come together and join in order to help. That’s what we should all be doing … President Trump is the take action type … When you talk about swiftness, that just make sense within why in essence he is the President of the United States, because that’s what our country needed. Someone who’s interested in what’s going on in the country and takes action. So, now he’s shown that in this particular example. He’s showed it in other ways as well … That quality, that character, that interested and taking action – that is something we’ve been seeing time and time again.”
During her appearance on the show, Dr. Ruskin also gave her professional opinion on how to talk to children about disasters and how adults can cope as well, no matter it’s close to home or far away the disturbance happened.
