Seriously, North Carolina, where are you and what are you doing?
I just lost a bid for conservative candidate for Lee County Commissioner-at-Large. A little disappointing, but one of the three of us got in, and that swung the "balance of power" to the Conservatives. We Republicans are just a wee bit shy of 10,000 registered voters in the county, and will surpass that in short order and then take over in our area.
Remember..."all politics is local?" (Let me answer my own question.) It was Tip O'Neill. No matter what you thought about him, he was right. If you want to influence anyone for good or for ill, reach out to those within arm's length and lead them towards a change before you go out to conquer the world.
What are you folks doing to prepare for the "bad times" that could be awaiting us in the near future? Any "preppers" out there? Bought an AR-15 recently? Doing any reloading?
I've learned how to do new things that will be useful "when the lights go out." For example, I know how to make a "slow sand" water filter, and have made my own black powder (For muzzle-loading shooting, NOT for "destructive devices.") I have a blacksmith's forge and know how to use it, although I'm getting older and my arm strength is not what it used to be (or never really was!).
We just don't know what is going to happen in the USA in the coming days, weeks, months and years, and must be prepared for a variety of contengencies. While we wait, we must not be either complacent or silent, but must militate where we must to see that we do not lose any of our God-given freedoms. That means standing up to tyrants on the local level first, and then on the state and national levels. We are making progress locally and in our beloved State of North Carolina. Now we need to move on Washington.
Let's get the conversation moving, please.
Comment by DefendConstitution on July 4, 2011 at 10:46am To salvage our country, we must be more careful about electing the individuals who are supposed to represent us in Washington. Following are some of my thoughts on electing representatives.
Requirements for elected officials
Any person running for any elected office shall sign a sworn statement agreeing to accept the following conditions and agree to make these items their top priority to be made a part of the law of the land.
They shall agree to uphold the oath of office pledge they swear to upon being seated. They further agree to resign the elected office immediately upon being presented with reasonable evidence of their violating the oath. This especially refers to upholding the United States Constitution and all the amendments.
