Welcome Jonathan.  I was the same way, except up on the north end, near Lake Michigan (now in Hammond, IN)  This area,. especially is VERY democratic with large chunks of the population being union members, mostly blue-collar, family type of folks.  This district where I am has been represented in Congress by Pete Visclosky, a very unsavory liberal.  Along with getting this group going forward, I am looking to make a run for this seat in the 2012 election.  I love the last bit on your comment; God bless America.  I am very much a firm believer in both God and America.  I believe this nation is headed in the complete wrong direction.  Something I read from a facebook friend earlier today, concerning all the "czars" and recess appointments was this; Yes Bush did the same thing, but there is a huge difference, Bush was not intending to destroy America, Barry is. (Yes, I will always refer to him as Barry)  Thanks for joining us!

I was born and raised on the border of Illinois and Indiana (near Princeton and Evansville) and would be more than happy to join such a fine group! I'd love to see some major movements take place further north (I'm living in Atlanta, GA right now).
