It appears that the four front-runners are Palin, Romney, Huckabee, and Gingrich. I love Palin, but she may be too polarizing. Romney has a failed "RomneyCare" program as Governor of Massachusetts. Huckabee raised taxes and commuted a prisoner's sentence who ended up committing murder. Gingrich had an affair. Nobody is perfect. What do y'all think?
Permalink Reply by Gloria Garcia on December 20, 2010 at 8:36pm Romney is a good businessman for sure, but Newt has the credentials. I've watched him speak, and what I appreciate most is he knows what he's talking about.

I believe Romney is the best candidate for 2012. Has excellent speaking capabilities to go toe to toe with Obama in debates and has a much lesser negatives than does Palin or Gingrich. Huckabee is the wildcard.
Permalink Reply by Agent Orange on December 20, 2010 at 8:37pm Personally, I like Sarah the best -- she's smart, charismatic, a true Reaganite in terms of policy issues, and she's got a lot of common sense. Plus, if she gets the nomination the whole conservative base will likely rally around her, giving her a head start in the general election race. On the debit side, though, I have to admit that she will also rally the entire liberal base against her, but that alone won't ensure her defeat like some people here seem to think. Also, AT THIS TIME, she's in the negatives with the swing voters (by a NARROW margin) -- but that's likely due to the fact that the left-leaning media has attacked her more systematically than any other Republican, and with almost two years to go, this can still be mended. And besides, when faced with a choice between her and Obummer, I can bet that even some of those who don't like her would still vote for her as the lesser evil.
As for the other candidates: Newt would be a good candidate with a solid Conservative platform, but unfortunately he lacks personal charisma, and like Sarah he's got family problems dragging him down. Jindal, I think, would be a good candidate, as well as Rubio -- they just have to make more of an effort to be seen and heard, and I think most conservatives would rally around them in the general election. Petraeus would make a good Commander-in-Chief (which is what we need most of all in order to win the War on Jihad), but unfortunately he's not running. Mitt and Chewbacca (Huckabee), on the other hand, are too much rhinos to get the base turned out (not to mention that a rhino would not be a good thing for the country if elected, because a rhino president would do too little, too late to save the country from the liberals). And, of course, Ron Paul and Chris Christie would be COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE because of their support for terrorism.

Permalink Reply by Paul LaSalle on December 20, 2010 at 8:40pm Bingo James. Look who the barking dog media is trying to take apart the most, and it's Palin. I say go get em' sister. I love the woman just for that reason....she has more integrity in her little finger than the democratic establishment has. I think the one thing that irritates the press more than politicians reneging on their promises are the ones who don't. Politicians who do what they say they're going to do is very unsettling for a large portion of America.
The one quality I do like about Mike Huckaby is he's a big advocate of the fair tax. I think that is one implementation which would go a long way to solve many problems this country has from unemployment to big government to illegal immigration. Other than that, he's just too much fluff for me.
Gingrich goes off the reservation once in awhile, and I just don't trust him. Rommney is like drinking luke warm water...just too polished. Maybe I should run. I know one thing, I'd bring our troops home and sick them on the Mexican drug cartels and the borders. Come here and kidnap our citizens? I don't think so.

Hi Al.
the one thing about Palin when she was Governor she took on the good Ole boy club and won, that's why she scares the s*** out of those CAREER POLITICIANS from BOTH PARTIES.it's not just the DFEMORATS it's also the RINO'S who have screwed up this nation just about beyond repair.

She is not afraid to confront anyone that she believes is wrong or is violating our constution. Gingrich and Palin are true belivers of our constitution and God given rights. I believe that being religious is very important because as the proverb goes, Those that pray together, Stay together. That is my beliefs and how I was raised up. I definately believe that America has fallen far back in the past two years and we can not relive the next two with out Republican intervention. For every step forward this administration is taking us two steps backward. We can not continue with this socialist aganda. It is becoming scary. I believe that the American had spoken loudlt last November. Al Duhan

Permalink Reply by R Earley on December 20, 2010 at 8:42pm I'd like to see Chris Christi (NJ) run. It has to be someone DIFFERENT, yet able to gain the respect and attention that is so needed. We need someone that is blunt and plain speaking and no nonsense. This guy is great!
Permalink Reply by Agent Orange on December 20, 2010 at 8:42pm Reagan was "polorazing" too, but he still got elected twice. And in any case, what this country needs right now is a solid, far-right President, not some wishy-washy rhino moderate. DeMint/Palin would be an excellent choice.

I would like to see a team of Jim DeMint and Sarah Palin. I like Sarah but she just flat out doesn't have the experience. Demint is a good, stand up guy with a great conservative track record. Unfortunately, both of them are too polorazing to be together. Of the ones listed, I like Huckabee but I think all of them (especially RINO Gingrich) are too much from the old way of doing business in Washington.
Permalink Reply by Al Duhan on December 20, 2010 at 8:43pm I BELIEVE THAT ALAN KEYS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT FRONT RUNNER. I VOTED FOR HIM IN 2000.

Permalink Reply by Paul LaSalle on December 20, 2010 at 8:45pm Actually, I would love to see Palin take over the RNC.
It is hard to say so early who I will vote for but I like the things I see and hear about with Sarah Palin, but I really don't know if we as a Nation are ready for a woman to run this country as President yet.
Sure she has a lot of good ideas to change the way things are in Washington for the better, but I just can't see some of the other countries in the world wanting to do business with her due to the fact that she is a woman.
You remember how Obama was treated in Russia, they didn't want to shake his hand, well I think a woman as President would get some of the same if not worse reactions by some of the middle Eastern countries who have more old fashion ways of looking at women in power.
I can see someone like her in maybe another 20 years but not now. I think either Romney, or Gingrich may be more of the front runners right now .
