It appears that the four front-runners are Palin, Romney, Huckabee, and Gingrich. I love Palin, but she may be too polarizing. Romney has a failed "RomneyCare" program as Governor of Massachusetts. Huckabee raised taxes and commuted a prisoner's sentence who ended up committing murder. Gingrich had an affair. Nobody is perfect. What do y'all think?
Of the 4 I thnk that Newt Gingirch is porbably the best qualified. Whether he is electable or not is another question. Sarah Palin is probably the front runner. Unfortunately what folks think of her is clear-cut: She is either loved or hated with nothing in between.
There may be other possible candidates. In 6 or 8 months, the picture wil become a lot clearer I think.
Jan Brewer, or Gingrich or Huckabee. But Brewer should be somewhere on the ticket.
If given the choice between just these 4, I'd have to go with Palin. I would love to see Gingrich debate Obama on the issues...that would be utter destruction. Personally, I would like to see more of Rick Santorum...he's young, he's as intelligent as Gingrich, but without the baggage, plus I think he's stronger and more consistent on core conservative principles.
Huckabee is my favorite but the pardon hurts him with conservatives. I will not vote for Romney and I don't care that he is Mormon. Remember, even Reagan never cut government spending. Get the facts out about the fair tax and stop the slanted lies about it from liberals. We can then eliminate the IRS, Departments of Energy and Education, and cut the Agriculture Department by 75%. Then we can begin to cut spending.
None of the above.
Mike Pence, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Jan Brewer, Paul Ryan, Mitch Daniels
I absolutely love Sarah, but I have to agree with Mr. Day that she is either loved or hated and nothing in between. I think any excuse they can find to destroy her, they will certainly use. I also like Chris Christie, but I believe him when he says he doesn't want to run. Bobby Jindal is also a great candidate, but don't know if he's ready for prime time. I like Newt, but he is as divisive as Sarah. I'm a big fan of Huckabee as well. He is not as conservative as many would like, but coming on the heels of Obama, any halfway conservative would be welcome. Not that I want to settle, but Huckabee is a good man with a good heart. We could and are currently doing a lot worse. In other words, nobody's perfect, as they say.
Newt's the man for the job. One problem is that he is probably the most intellectual of any potential candidate and he tells it as it is. I like that but some people can't handle it. Newt and Governor Huckaby would be a great team!
As an aside, he was railroaded out of office (Speaker of the House at the time) for profits he made on a book and not reporting them or something like that. Look at what some of the current representatives (C. Rangel comes to mind right now) have gotten away with!
I like Mrs. Palin, but I would hate to see her get the nomination (very unlikely in my view). If she did, it would probably assure an Obama victory.
Ron Paul! He is the only potential candidate who can possibly get this country back on the right track to Constitutional government. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a Paul/Paul ticket with Ron and his son!
Gingrich is the most qualified but I think Huck is the most electable - and I live in Arkansas and liked him very much as governor! It really doesn't matter to me though, I would vote for Nixon or Agnew over ObaMao.
I believe that Mitt Romney for president and Mike Huckabee for Vice-President would be the best team Republicans could present. Romney is gifted and proven in finances, and he is desperately needed now! Huckabee it a wise and personable man who would bring a very positive response from voters. The pardon Huckabee gave was before the man had committed the serious crime for which he was imprisoned. He cannot have that held against him for commuting the man's sentence. Huckabee is an honorable man, as is Romney.
id like to see Lt Col Alan West run for President he is the new Congressman from Florida.
and John Bolden as his running mate.
Newt with Allen Keyes would be great. NO ONE could beat them in debates!
